Caught Cha! The Destroyer Spirit In Action!   4 comments

Apostle Paul said that we are not ignorant of the devil’s devices. From reading scriptures we know that the enemy of all Christians is the devil and he doesn’t have regard for us or who we may be or who we think we are. He’s not interested in anything except disrupting our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He does this by stealing, killing and destroying. He’s referred to as the god of this world(world’s system), the prince of the power of the air, a murderer, our adversary, the author of confusion, Beelzebub( lord of the flies), a Liar and the father of it, the tormentor, and the list goes on.

My question is this: do we really know our enemy? And how real is he to us? Do we know when we are under his attacks?

This past Sunday, my family was privileged to have had lunch at a barbeque restaurant with a wonderful Latino family from our church. That family consists of a woman and her two grown children. Alena’s son’s name is Mike and his sister is Nikki(of course, their names have been changed in order to protect the innocent!). Anyway, they are faithful members and workers in our church. Alena teaches school in the community and Mike works hard as a salesman to help take care of his divorced mother and his handicapped sister(Nikki is crippled with cerebral palsy, limps and walks with the use of crutches).

Mike related a story to us of what had happened to him not long ago. He said that he and Alena stopped by the church to drop Nikki off to work; she works in the church office, and as he was leaving the church building, he saw an old buddy of his walking across the church parking lot and taking a short cut to Wal-Mart’s, which is next to our church. He said that he and this friend of his had gone to the same high school and that he hadn’t seen him in a long while. Mike’s intentions were to invite the friend to church. However, he said that the friend was walking so fast that he couldn’t get his attention. So Mike kind of ran a bit after his friend and was calling his name but the friend continued at a brisk pace and didn’t see him, and appeared not to hear Mike.

Mike said that the friend had had mental problems in the past and seemingly still suffered from them. So he expected that the friend was having some challenges again and maybe that’s why he was walking so fast and being so nonresponsive to Mike’s calls. Anyway, right about that same time Mike saw a police helicopter flying over his head, and suddenly landing right on the church parking lot next to where Mike was walking. Then two police cars drove up with sirens on and blocked Mike. The policemen got out of their cars, armed, and demanded that Mike fall to the ground in a fetal position and they proceeded to handcuff Mike.

Mike was shocked and had no idea what all of this was about! He was wearing his good, clean church clothes but got them all dirty as he was on the ground being handcuffed. He asked the policemen what this was all about and they told him that a man had been pointing a gun at passersby and that they suspected it was him. Well after they searched him, they realized that they had the wrong man.

Mike kind of thought that maybe it was his friend who might have been pointing his finger at cars as they passed him by, but he certainly didn’t have a gun either. Nevertheless, the friend preceeded on to Wal-Mart’s, not ever knowing what had just transpired behind him. And Alena sat in the car waiting for Mike to return to the car, and she had no idea either what had just transpired that involved her son. When she found out she was very surprised and perplexed.

If that circumstance wasn’t enough, Mike continued on telling us about another such incident of mistaken identity. This time Mike was in the church doing some painting work for the church and he was approached by church security and asked if he was a certain man whom the church security officials had banned from the premises because of disruptive behavior. Mike told them that he was not that person but they persisted but they finally realized and admitted that Mike bore a really close resemblance to this other person.

Now Saints, let me say this: God confirms every matter with two or three witnesses, and since Satan tries to mimic the true God, he also will confirm things that he does with two or three witnesses. So now Mike has two witnesses of mistaken identity. Is God causing Mike to be mistaken for other people? I would say not! Satan is trying to destroy Mike by destroying his character. If this evil spirit isn’t rebuked, bound and cast out of Mike’s life, then it’s possible that these kinds of attacks will proceed.

However, when I mentioned this to Mike, he kind of smiled at me in disbelief. He blames himself for the attacks. Somehow he thinks that he deserves to suffer such humiliation and degradation. Now isn’t that just like Satan to put guilt on us and make us blame ourselves for what he has done? Isn’t it just like him to lie and place blame on God for things he has done also, so that God’s servants end up suffering needlessly, thinking that God is punishing them?

Somehow, we will have to finally convince ourselves once and for all that God is indeed a good God, if we ever expect to have any understanding of our enemy. God is love and He is not interested in tormenting His servants. When we repent and ask forgiveness, God forgives us and doesn’t keep washing our face with past sins. God is patient with us and never rushes us to make decisions. His Spirit is gentle(a gentleman) and never harsh and rude; and He will not force us to receive Him. He’s made us to be mighty warriors through the Blood that Jesus shed for us. Let us, the Blood bought Saints of God, renew our minds with His word and let us put on the whole armor of God. The born again children of God are more that conquerors through Him that loved us.

  3. Thank-you for sharing this example of the destroyer spirit in action Bee Jay! I can sure see where he tried to destroy me so many times in my life and my children, but thank-you Jesus! for saving us! Hallelujah! He is my Everything and without Him I am nothing! I am so thankful that our Father loves us! I am thankful that Jesus shed His blood for us! He died for us, was buried, was raised on the third day and now sits at the Father’s right hand. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!!!

  4. Oh, thank you Donna for your reply. There’s so so many people who are bound up and being manipulated by evil spirits, saved people and unsaved people. Being born again does not protect us from attack. In fact, it invites attack. But God has given us spiritual weapons in which to fight. Yes, we are more than conquerors through Christ because He has given us everything that pertain to life and godliness; we just have to employ what He has already given us. ~Bj
